Sample Proclamation for The International Day of Radiant Peace
Based on the proclamation issued in 2005, by
Pam Iorio, Mayor of Tampa, Florida
Proclamation
Whereas, for twenty years,
The Radiant
Peace Foundation International,
Inc. has been promoting, encouraging and inspiring an
awareness of peace through projects and programs around the world, touching the
lives of thousands of children and adults; and
Whereas, the first-ever museum dedicated to Radiant
Peace is located in St. Petersburg, Florida and includes inspirational exhibits,
art and quotes from many of their projects involving children over the past 15
years and welcomes participation in special activities geared toward their
mission by the general public. It also encourages local schools to participate
in field trips and special projects to learn about international peace projects;
and
Whereas, the goal of Radiant Peace Place International is to teach that peace
begins with each of us - when we respect ourselves, each other, and the planet
we share and that sincere wishes, thoughts or prayers for peace have a positive
impact on individuals as well as the world; and
Whereas, such care is essential in addressing the causes of many critical
problems like street violence, disasters, terrorism, disease, environmental
deterioration, famine, and the threat of nuclear disaster; and
Whereas, by coming together for a common goal such as projects presented by
The Radiant Peace Foundation International, we can lessen violence and separation; and
Whereas, the City of Tampa is pleased to join with Radiant Peace Place
International and other cities in the United States and throughout the world in
participating in seasonal celebrations of Radiant Peace on
September 22 each year,
Now, therefore, I, [Name] , [Mayor or Governor] of the
[City or State] of [Name] do hereby proclaim
September 22 each year as a celebration of
“The International Day of Radiant Peace”
in the [City, State or Country], and urge all citizens
to recognize the importance of promoting peace and harmony in our community each
and every day.
