Radiant Peace and Seniors!

We welcome a growing network of people who, in living into their fourth quarter-century, have wisdom to offer in their perceptions of Radiant Peace.  Through programs in senior centers, assisted-living facilities, and community-based senior outreach, Radiant Peace Place International invites people over 80, over 85, and over 100 to share their expressions of their lifetimes' experiences. Programs range from one-on-one interviews and short answers about topics relating to what they have learned about Radiant Peace in their lifetimes, to submissions for the Senior Radiant Peace Essay Awards in conjunction with celebrations of the International Day of Radiant Peace.

Norman J. Weyer, Sr., age 88, won National First Place in this year's Senior Radiant Peace Essay Awards for entries submitted by June 22.  The theme of the essays was ""If I could talk to the world’s people about Peace, what would I say?" He concluded,

"...In the Mideast people who have lived together for centuries are at war with each other seeking the home they had but were denied what had been their birthright due to religious differences, thereby using the greatest peace movements to be the cause for war.

"If only they could reach out to each other and look into each other’s eyes to find the spark of love and let one person step forth and voice that love, the whole world would hear, as its focus is on them. Even as we look at each other on a person to person basis, reach out to each other and elevate each other to a height over the normal and give your feelings to them and let them reciprocate. There is no limit to how far this praise will reach in each other’s eyes as long as one steps forth and starts the process. It all starts with two people, but the effect is like throwing a stone in the pond and watching the rings cover the whole pond, then reverse and come back to you. That is true peace at work."

Are you a senior or do you know seniors who want to participate in sharing their words about Radiant Peace? Email or write for the guidelines for essays due by October 22, 2005, or for information on how to do a senior project in your area!
